Cotillion

Theta Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has hosted 16 Biennial Pink and Green Debutante Cotillions. The chapter established its first Cotillion program during the Spring of 1989, spearheaded by Clara Airall and her daughter Zoila Airall. The first Cotillion was held in July 1980. The purpose of the biennial event is to enrich the lives of young women and men. The Cotillion Committee objectives include:

  • Providing programs geared toward developing future community leaders

  • Celebrating academic achievements and creative talents of young people

  • Exposing our youth to activities that develop cultural awareness and appreciation and enhance social skills

  • Supporting higher education by awarding university/college scholarships and book awards

The Cotillion journey takes approximately nine months of preparation and includes high school students who are recommended to participate as Debutantes, Junior Debutantes and Escorts.

Through the years, Theta Pi Omega Chapter’s Cotillion has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to deserving young people. In 2020, the chapter awarded over $35,000 in scholarships and book awards to the best and brightest youth in South Jersey. We are proud to continue to implement programs that positively impact students in our community and beyond.
